Stratec was approached by David Smith Contractors for assistance with the groundwork preparations for the development of a new school in Aberdeen.
The site covered a large area, the plans were for the school to house 1,350 pupils and they included a three-story building, a dance studio, a fitness suite, a games hall, a swimming pool, a garden and a 3G pitch, so the ground would need to be strengthened to support these structures.
After reviewing the site and the requirements Stratec recommended the use of a Geocomposite. The Geocomposite was a non-woven liner bonded to a Geogrid. This type of Geocomposite was recommended due to the reinforcement, stabilisation, filtration, separation, and drainage capabilities provided by one product.
Stratec were able to supply David Smith Contractors with the material for the successful installation at the Geocomposite.
The choice of using a Geocomposite enhanced the efficiency of the installation and added value to the overall project. The combination of material used provided benefits over just using individual layers by enhancing functions, increasing interface friction angles, and reducing the time taken for installation.
