The Brief

Prime Four Business Park is a large industrial development including hotels and other facilities to create a World Class business hub.

Part of this project was located on an old landfill site. This resulted in weak ground in several areas and in some instances small voids that had to be traversed. The area of weak ground was over the main access into the site and thus needed to be engineered with precision.

Our Approach

Stratec proposed the use of a 600/50 PET Woven Polyester Geotextile to provide a suitable working platform for the project.
High Strength Polyester Woven Geotextiles are produced to exceptional high strengths. This means that they offer much higher load capacities, making them ideal for heavy-duty applications such as over mine works and weak soils.

The Outcome

The High Strength Polyester Woven Geotextile had high strength properties in the machine direction which enabled the traversing of voids and capping of the weak ground.

The structure of this material also resulted in desirable characteristics including corrosion resistance and long-term durability. This is due to the strength of the Geotextile and its ability to be porous, so allows water to pass through whilst retaining the fines.

The choice of a High Strength Polyester Woven Geotextile for this project met all of the specification required by the client but also increased the strength and the longevity of the installation. These features added significant value to this project.
