Geomembranes & Liners

Geomembranes are synthetic membrane liners or barriers with very low permeability used to control fluid migration in projects. These include HDPE, LLPE and Geosynthetic clay liners as well as protection membranes.

Bentonite liner

Bentonite Liner explained: A Bentonite liner is a Geosynthetic membrane made of bentonite clay, a natural product, making it a very environmentally suited choice for a sustainable liner.

It’s quick and easy to install with no need for welding or taping on-site, which also means no specialist equipment or personnel is required for its installation.

Bentonite liners are very versatile, boasting excellent slope stability and can be installed easily even in remote areas.

Once the product is hydrated and confined under the required minimum of 300mm cover material, the liner offers ‘self-healing’ properties. If the liner is then penetrated, the sodium bentonite swells around the puncture and creates a seal, healing itself.

Bentonite liners also have high chemical and climate resistance and resistance to different settlements.

LLDPE Liner

LLDPE Liner explained: Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) Liners are Geomembranes that are designed for applications that require greater flexibility and elongation performance.

They are flexible, UV, chemical and puncture resistant, and are extremely durable.

HDPE Liner

HDPE Liner explained: HDPE Liners are impermeable, high-quality barriers manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The membrane has a high chemical resistance and is ideal for use on sites affected by hydrocarbon and VOC contamination. They are also resistant to stress cracking which make them a particularly robust liner.

They tend to be used in the containment and management of solids, liquids and gases and will also effectively prevent the ingress of a number of other harmful gases, including radon, as well other toxic industrial contaminants.

  • Landfill Base/Capping
  • Radon Barrier
  • Invasive Weed Barrier

Protection Membrane

Protection Membrane explained: Protection Membranes are typically Non-woven Geotextiles that are placed above and below HDPE or LLDPE liners in installations.

This is done to minimise the risk of the liner being punctured or damaged.
